1973 Karori
Historical Society
2023
Celebrating 50
years since our founding.
The Society turns 50!
This year marks our 50th
anniversary, with the above article in the Karori News, written by Norma
McCallum, leading to the formation of the Karori Historical Society.
While we’re technically slightly late, as the nascent Society first met
in March 1973, we are planning a celebration on Saturday, 24 June, at St
Ninians.
The event will run from 11am to around 1pm, starting with a display of
images and records from our Archives, as well as some records from City
Archives. We will also have a range of publications relating to Karori’s
history to browse, as well as back issues of our Stockade, which people
are welcome to take away.
At midday we will have
some short speeches, including Norma McCallum, who we are pleased will
be able to attend, followed by cutting a cake and a cup of tea. Members
past and present are welcome, as are their friends and family. As well
as this open invitation we will be sending out an invite to past members
and Committee members, please feel free to forward on or let anyone you
think would like to attend.
